Two weeks before I was to arrive in Houston, I made a mandatory reservation at The St. Regis for their high tea from 3-5. I arrived to a parlor being prepared. The setup was very traditional old school money. I sat down and was greeted by a lady in a black suit who would be serving us. The tea consisted of two choices; one with alcohol and one without. I opted for the prosecco. There was a mini hors d’oeuvre- a small cracker with a slice of apricot and a dab of blue cheese on top. It was really nice. I love Bleu cheese so, good choice for me. Next were told about the jasmine green tea and the house Black. The both smelled delicious. The lighter tea was served with the sandwiches and the Black tea was served with dessert. The tower consisted of cucumber sandwich, chicken salad, gruyere cheese, thinly sliced beef and cheese finger sandwiches. There was also a plate of desserts which included Lemon meringue, fruit tart and an eclair. Because I ordered the prosecco, I got a delicious cream dessert with blackberries, light cream and cake with rolled white chocolate on top. Upon leaving, she boxed the leftover dessert and placed it in a gift bag. There was an extra box which held four mini French macarons. The price was hefty, but I loved the atmosphere so much that I would go again.
