If you care about purses, bags or pocketbooks, then you know that to get an Hermès Birkin is not an easy feat. After hearing rumors about how to acquire this coveted bag, I started to do my own research and came upon PurseBop, the blog. This blog gave me the 411 on how to get this bag. The first thing that I needed to do was become a customer and build a relationship with a sales associate. So, I went online and scoured the Hermès website. I came out with a wish list that would make my hubby double over in pain if he saw it. My idea is to buy online, and pick up in-store, meanwhile building a relationship with a SA. My first purchase was a pair of black Oran sandals for $680. I saved to splurge and made a hard decision to give up Starbucks for the year 2018. I spent a lot of money on Starbucks in the mornings and sometimes the afternoons after work. I realized that I could live without Starbucks.
I placed my order on the 10th of May and received an email on the 14th informing me that my order was ready for pickup at the Buckhead store in Atlanta. I kept my cool on the outside, but on the inside I was excited. This was an event! It would be my very purchase and my first time in the store. I felt like I had to get my nails done and pick an outfit befitting an Hermès customer (I am laughing at myself as I write this). I decided to wear white jeans, white tank top and a linen, denim-look, baby blue, double breasted jacket with gold buttons (Balmain Look-A-Like) and my denim Christian Louboutin, So Kate heels. Unfortunately, this didn't work out. I had a minor wardrobe malfunction with the jacket. I ended up wearing blue jeans and a white blouse with the same heels, that are really meant for sitting, not shopping.
I wanted to get there when the store first opened, so that I didn't have to walk a long way in 5 inch heels. I walked in and there was a man at the door. I let him know that I was picking up an online order. He went to the back and came out with a silver package. He opened it and asked if I wanted to try the sandals on. I did, then followed him to the cash wrap, where
he asked if I wanted to try any fragrances. Since I had my eye on the Hermès Twilly fragrance, I asked to try it. It smelled really nice, and even nicer on my skin. I didn’t expect that, since fragrances give me a headache usually. He wrapped some samples for me, and at the last minute, I decided to take a bottle. The 2.8 oz. bottle is $140 after taxes.
As far as customer service is concerned, it was very Lurch-like. If you’ve ever watched The Addams family, you know that Lurch was always at your service, but not in an overly enthusiastic way. The service was perfect, but not lively. So, let’s see how long it will take me to be offered a bag. Wish me luck!
